Esmée Böbner and Zoé Vergé-Dépré reached the quarter-finals of the Elite16 tournament in Brasilia at the last minute. The Swiss pair saved six match points in the second set.

The two Swiss women scored new valuable points in the race for one of the coveted places for the Paris Olympic Games. The only Swiss duo to have reached the knockout round in the Brazilian capital, they won their round of 16 which pitted them against Canadians Humana-Paredes/Wilkerson.

After losing the first set, the 24-year-old Lucerne and the 26-year-old Bernese trailed 17-20 in the second set and saved six match points. The Swiss then won the deciding set 15-10.

Three weeks after winning a second category tournament in Mexico for the first time, Böbner/Vergé-Dépré are now causing a sensation at the highest level. In the quarter-finals, they will face the Brazilians Agatha/Rebecca.
