Manchester City quietly won 4-0 at Slovan Bratislava on Tuesday in their second Champions League match.

Pep Guardiola’s team had three draws in their last four meetings in all competitions, including a 0-0 at home against Inter Milan for their entry into the C1.

In Slovakia, the Mancuniens quickly opened the scoring through their captain Ilkay Gündogan (1-0, 8th). His uncontrolled shot was slightly deflected, but it went into the net anyway.

Served by Jérémy Doku, already involved in the first goal, Phil Foden doubled the lead (2-0.15). Doku, definitely in the spotlight, found the corner of the goal with a curling shot (24th). Then the Slovan goalkeeper, Dominik Takac, was saved by an upright and the bar on attempts by Foden (26th) and Gündogan (39th).

It was ultimately Haaland who hit the nail on the head. Launched in depth by Rico Lewis, he hooked Takac to finish in the empty net (3-0, 58th). Duty accomplished after scoring his 11th goal this season with City, the Norwegian then joined the bench.

His replacement James McAtee was able to seize his chance by scoring the fourth goal with a half-volley, after a bell ball offered by Foden (4-0, 74th).
