NFL: Sam Darnold preserves the Vikings’ perfect record against the Packers (football)

Sam Darnold threw three touchdown passes and the Minnesota Vikings kept an impeccable record this season, winning 31-29 at the expense of the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.

Jordan Addison scored touchdowns with a 29-yard reception and a seven-yard run.

He had just missed two matches with an ankle injury.

The Vikings led 28-0 late in the first half.

Their 4-0 record is their best since 2016, when they won their first five games (it got worse after that, en route to an 8-8 record).

“We believe (very strongly) in ourselves,” summed up Darnold.

For the Packers (2-2), Jordan Love was back after a two-game absence due to a knee injury.

He amassed 389 air yards and four touchdown passes, career highs.

He also committed three interceptions, however.

“We were constantly in the mix but ultimately it was too little too late,” he said.

Jayden Reed caught seven balls for 139 yards, including a touchdown.

Green Bay closed to 31-29 with 56 seconds left in the game (a 17-yard catch from Dontayvion Wicks). The score, however, would remain unchanged.

“In this league, sometimes you get a lesson in humility,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. You have to give credit to the Vikings: they did more than us. As for us, we have to learn something from it and become better.”

Darnold provided 275 passing yards, including six-point connections with Addison, Josh Oliver and Justin Jefferson.

Former Packers Aaron Jones added 93 yards rushing and 46 yards receiving. He spent seven years with Green Bay.

Brayden Narveson hurt the Packers’ cause by missing two field goal attempts in the first half.

Minnesota gained great momentum by scoring points in its first three climbs.

When the Packers finally punted, Shaq Griffin ran a 28-yard interception return, setting the stage for another touchdown for Kevin O’Connell’s team.

The Vikings’ next game will take place next Sunday against the New York Jets in London.
