Nicolas Raskin returns from injury to Glasgow Rangers, and is therefore not yet a starter. A complicated start to the season that Philippe Clément puts into perspective.
West Nicholas Raskin ? The 23-year-old Belgian midfielder is expected to play this evening in the Europa League, when Glasgow Rangers travel to Malmö. He could even start, but it would be a first this season for him.
In fact, Raskin has yet to start a match since returning from injury. He came on for 10 and 17 minutes against Celtic and Dundee, and was on the bench recently in the Scottish Cup. But Philippe Clementhis coach, is very optimistic about his upcoming season.
“He is not at his best at the moment, of course, he is coming back from injury. But he is getting better and better and is gradually regaining his former form,” assures the Belgian coach in the Scotland Herald. The competition that arrived this summer in Glasgow should not worry Raskin, according to Clément.
“For the next 4 months, we will play every three days. This has never happened in football, especially for internationals,” he emphasizes. “There have been so many matches, without a winter break. So we will certainly need all these players at their best, in order to perform on four fronts. Because we have ambitions in all four competitions.”
This evening, at 6:45 p.m., Rangers begin their campaign away to Malmö. It is then Olympique Lyonnais who will challenge the team of Clément and Raskin in Glasgow. The Union Saint-Gilloise will go to Scotland next January.
