Gauthier Descloux will not be able to defend the GSHC goal for a while! The Grenat goalie was injured during the weekend in Visp, on the sidelines of the CHL matches organized in the Upper Valais. Marc Gautschi and the staff therefore had to react to find a solution to support Robert Mayer. This solution came from across the Atlantic with an experienced goalie, with 11 seasons in the NHL: the Finnish Antti Raanta.
At 35, he has played 301 games in the best league in the world, with a save percentage of 91.5% in the regular season. Between 2013 and 2024, Antti Raanta played for the Chicago Blackhawks, New York Rangers, Arizona Coyotes and Carolina Hurricanes franchises. In 2015, he won the Stanley Cup with Chicago, then in 2022, he won the Jennings Trophy, an award given to the goaltender who has conceded the fewest goals.
Antti Raanta has had a great NHL career, after a record-breaking season in the Finnish Liiga. In fact, during the 2012-2013 season, he won the title with Ässät, sweeping everything in his path: best goalie of the season, MVP of the season, MVP of the playoffs; he was even among the top 3 best Finnish players at the world championship that year.
Genève-Servette wishes Gauthier Descloux a good and speedy recovery, as well as welcoming Antti Raanta in his new colours. He will wear number 32 with the Eagles.

Christophe Cavalleri will miss the next few weeks of competition. The Geneva striker fractured a bone in his hand and underwent surgery on Friday that will prevent him from playing. Christophe Cavalleri should be available again in 5 to 6 weeks.
