Nylander has yet to play in this Eastern Conference first-round series as he attempts to rehab an undisclosed injury.

Nylander did drills with Calle Jarnkrok and Pontus Holmberg during morning warmups, but remained on the ice after his teammates retreated to the locker room at Scotiabank Arena.

Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe said it “is possible” that the 27-year-old hockey player would participate in the evening game.

Leafs forward Nick Robertson, who replaced Nylander in the starting lineup for Games Nos. 1 and 2, had left the ice at the same time as his teammates, leading to speculation that he would be in uniform for Game No. 3.

Star player Auston Matthews was absent during warmups, but Keefe said the team simply decided to give him some rest. The American hockey player scored the winning goal and collected two assists in the 3-2 victory against the Bruins on Monday night.
