Senegal has secured its qualification for the semi-finals of the UFOA A tournament, which serves as a preliminary to the CAN U20 2025, after its duel against Gambia this afternoon, concluded with a score of 2-2. This result, combined with the withdrawal of Mauritania from group B, guarantees Serigne Saliou Dia’s Lionceaux a place among the top two in their group.

Senegal, who showed resilience as they drew 2-2 with Gambia. The Lionceaux, under coach Serigne Saliou Dia, opened the scoring through Cheikh Tidiane Thiam, who scored from a set piece in the 42nd minute. However, Gambia was quick to respond, equalising in the 52nd minute before taking the lead in the 58th minute.

With their backs to the wall, Senegal showed remarkable fighting spirit. Abdourahman Dia, who had already shone in the previous match against Mali, scored the equalizer in the 75th minute. This result allows the Lionceaux to secure a place in the semi-finals of the UFOA A tournament, thanks in particular to Mauritania’s withdrawal from Group B. With a win and a draw, Senegal is assured of finishing among the top two teams in its group.

Now we just have to wait for the result of Gambia’s next match against Guinea to determine the final standings. The top two teams in each group will qualify for the semi-finals, and Senegal are in a good position to continue their adventure and defend their title.
