Ngannou confirms he made more money against Fury than he did in his entire MMA career

Special guest on RMC Fighter Club, Francis Ngannou confirmed that he earned more money fighting Tyson Fury in boxing than he did in his entire MMA career, as the former UFC heavyweight champion.

A lucrative adventure in the world of boxing. UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou left the MMA organization after his victory against Ciryl Gane in January 2022. In October 2023, the “Predator” reappeared to realize his dream in English boxing, against Tyson Fury.

Beaten by split decision by the “Gypsy King”, Ngannou reportedly earned $10 million (approximately €9.1 million) by stepping into the ring. Does that mean he earned more in one fight than he did in his entire MMA career? “It didn’t take me two fights,” the Cameroonian confirmed in the RMC Fighter Club.

“I didn’t really leave MMA”

In March 2024, about five months after his fight against Tyson Fury, Francis Ngannou was then knocked out by Anthony Joshua.

Now with PFL, another MMA organization, Francis Ngannou will make his return to the cage on October 19 against Renan Ferreira, the current heavyweight champion. The fight will take place in Saudi Arabia, a country where Ngannou had his two boxing fights.

“I didn’t really leave MMA, I focused on other things,” Ngannou clarified on the RMC Sport podcast, while he hasn’t fought in his favorite sport for more than two and a half years. “I had a knee operation that took quite a while. It was a good opportunity for me to get back on my feet with boxing while avoiding everything that is wrestling, the timing was perfect.”
