Descriptive text here

Aaron Judge hit the fifth longest home run in the majors this season, but the Cleveland Guardians were not impressed by Judge’s power.

Judge sent a ball 450 feet for a spectacular three-run homer in the third inning, but the Guardians had the last laugh with three runs in the 10th inning, en route to an 8-7 victory.

Judge made short work of Logan Allen’s pitch with two men on the trail and sent the ball into the left field bleachers to make it 3-0 at that point.

However, the game was decided in the 10th inning and the Yankees thought they had done enough to triumph. A single by Anthony Rizzo gave New York a two-run lead.

Without being spectacular, the Guardians nevertheless made their way back up the slope little by little. A grounder from Josh Naylor first allowed Bo Naylor to cross the plate, then Gleyber Torres fumbled on a grounder from Will Brennan, which allowed Josh Naylor to tie the game 7-7.

Andrés Giménez played the hero a few moments later with a sacrifice ball which gave the Guardians victory.

The Guardians thus avoid the sweep and they inflict on the Yankees their second defeat in their last eight outings.

Yankees starter Nestor Cortes allowed five hits and four earned runs in four innings of work. The loss went to Caleb Ferguson, who allowed two hits and three runs, two of which were earned, in two-thirds of innings.

A first hit for Holliday

Jackson Holliday hit the first hit of his career in the majors, he crossed the plate to give the Orioles the lead and Baltimore triumphed by a score of 6-4 against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Holliday, playing the fourth game of his career, placed a ball to safety in right field in the bottom of the seventh inning, with two men on the trail.

Moments later, an infield grounder from Adley Rutschman, which turned into a double play, allowed Holliday to cross the plate and give the Orioles a 5-4 lead. This run scored by Holliday made the difference in the victory for the Orioles.

Cedric Mullins, Ryan O’Hearn and Colton Crowser hit the long ball in the Orioles victory. Baltimore avoided a sweep against the Brewers with this victory, after losses of 11-1 and 11-5 in the first two games.

Orioles starter Corbin Burnes allowed six hits and three runs, including two earned, in five innings pitched.

Toro produces the winning point

Quebecer Abraham Toro hit a decisive two-run single in a 7-6 victory for the Oakland Athletics against the Washington Nationals on Sunday.

The A’s scored six runs in the sixth inning to come from behind and win a third consecutive series for the first time since 2021. They won two games out of three for the third time this campaign.

Some 8,637 spectators were in the stands at the Oakland Coliseum, bringing the total to 17,744 fans for the three-game series. The California team recently announced its plans to play in Sacramento from 2025 to 2027 while awaiting the construction of its new stadium in Las Vegas.

The Nationals led 6-1 in the sixth inning. Toro started the A’s at-bat with a walk, scoring the team’s second run on a Tyler Nevin single. In his second at-bat, Toro pushed Shea Langeliers and Ryan Noda to the plate.

Toro has a .275 batting average this season. He has four hits in his last two games and has six RBIs since the start of the campaign.

Mitch Spence (1-1) earned his first major league victory by allowing two runs in one and two-thirds innings. Mason Miller signed his third save of the season.

Ozuna has showmanship

Marcell Ozuna and the Atlanta Braves had their backs against the wall against the Miami Marlins, but the designated hitter had one last card up his sleeve.

With two outs in the ninth inning and two strikes on him, Ozuna sent a Tanner Scott pitch into the center field bleachers to give the Braves a 9-7 lead with a three-run homer.

Two innings earlier, Ozuna had cut the lead to 7-6 with a run-scoring double. He finished the game with three hits and four RBIs.

Raisel Iglesias handcuffed the Marlins hitters in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Braves ultimately escaped with a 9-7 victory.

Matt Olson also had a good game with three hits and two runs scored, while Adam Duvall produced two runs, notably thanks to his first home run of the season.

The starting pitchers of both teams had rather difficult outings. Braves Charlie Morton allowed seven hits and six earned runs in 5 2/3 innings, while Marlins starter Jesus Luzardo allowed seven hits and five earned runs in five innings.
