Charleroi supporters throw dead rats at their Liège opponents

During the championship match Belgium between the Liege Standard And Charleroisupporters of Charleroi made themselves known by throwing dead rats at the supporters Liegeois.

If the Liège team won on the pitch by winning 3-1 at home, the atmosphere was electric in the stands of the Sclessin stadium. Fans from both sides celebrated the entry of both teams with impressive tifos and pyrotechnic demonstrations.

The match was even interrupted for a few minutes due to the throwing of smoke bombs on the field. But things got out of hand when Charleroi supporters threw… dead rats painted red in the direction of their Walloon rivals.

“Some Charleroi ‘supporters’ threw dead rats in the direction of T2. We are not talking about one or two rats but about ten. We hope that the Pro League will take action, that our club will file a complaint and that animal protection associations will get involved”writes a page Facebook of Standard supporters.

As reported by RTBF, THE Storm Ultrasone of the main groups of supporters of Charleroi, were disguised as exterminators and carried a banner with the words “rat control”. This week, they had launched hostilities on social networks, comparing their Standard counterparts to rats. “After the floods, and even more since the acceleration of the tram works in Liège, the rats are out. The inhabitants of Liège who walk during the day or in the evening in the streets of the Cité Ardente have certainly noticed it”they wrote in particular.

This is not the first time that the club Charleroi talked about for non-sporting reasons. On November 12, the match against Mechelen was interrupted following the throwing of smoke bombs and projectiles by supporters of Charleroi. Five months later, the Belgian Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled the victory by withdrawal of the Mechelen club.
