New goal for Tiago Morais in Portugal, all under the eyes of José Fonte (ex-LOSC)

New goal for Tiago Morais in Portugal, all under the eyes of José Fonte (ex-LOSC)

The Rio Ave club, where Tiago Morais (LOSC) is currently on loan, traveled to Rio Maior this Sunday. The LOSC player eliminated Casa Pia, José Fonte's team, and secured a ticket to the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup.

In a duel between seventh and tenth in the Portuguese first division, Rio Ave FC took the lead from the kick-off (6') with Kiko Bondoso opening the score. This advantage was quickly compounded following Clayton's goal (15'). The locals managed to reduce the gap just before the break with their only attempt on target (42'). The two goalkeepers did not make the slightest save during the first act. The second half was outrageously dominated by the visitors.

A month ago, almost to the day, Tiago Morais opened his counter for his return to Portugal. He did it again at the start of 2025 by scoring the third and final goal for his team, cementing the domination of his team ten minutes from time (81′) for a logical victory (1-3). Entering the hour mark, the 21-year-old Portuguese added a goal and 27 minutes to his tally, which already has 17 appearances (791 minutes) in all competitions. For his part, José Fonte (41 years old) witnessed his team's setback seen from the bench. The latter is not an indisputable starter at Casa Pia where he has accumulated 12 starts (960 minutes) since the start of the season.

After eliminating Atlético CP (1-1, 3-1 after extra time), Alverca (2-2, 4-2 after extra time) and Casa Pia (3-1), Rio Ave will face São João de Ver, resident of third division, in the quarter-finals of the Portuguese Cup.
