Despite a difficult situation in which Olympique Lyonnais finds itself, Pierre Sage benefits from the support of Armand Garrido, legendary former trainer of Les Gones. According to him, all the credit for the recovery of the Rhone club goes to him.

This season, Olympique Lyonnais is (finally) playing for the European places. Still racing in the lead despite some poor recent results, Les Gones hope to be able to reach the doors of a European Cup at the end of the season. John Textor's finances want it anyway. However, in the not-so-distant past, OL players did not come very far from sporting relegation to Ligue 2. Fortunately for the supporters, Pierre Sage arrived. Still in post, the current technician allowed his club to reach Europe at the end of last season and is heading towards the same state of affairs this season. A situation which earned him some praise, notably from Armand Garrido, former OL educator.

Pierre Sage, the man for the job

« Despite this little hunger at the moment, (Pierre Sage) has made the players want to play again. They found pleasure again. They started winning again. The comeback and the second part of last season was exceptional. His coaching and his way of putting things back in place in a team that was completely adrift at one point is very good. I still admire what he did because I wouldn't have wanted to be in his place. », declared for Olympique and Lyonnais the one who held an educational position at OL between 1988 and 2019. There is no doubt that the work of Pierre Sage has allowed certain players to get back on track. In the meantime, he still has a lot of work to do. And given the financial crisis in which the club finds itself, it will probably still have to fight with the means at hand.
