The Brazilian club Botafogo, owned by John Textor's Eagle Football group, the same as Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 1, has just taken a major step in its commercial development by signing a historic partnership with the bookmaker Vbet.
The agreement, lasting three years, is estimated at 55 million reals per year (around €9 million). It foresees that the sports betting brand will appear on the jerseys of the club's men's and women's teams, representing the largest sponsorship deal in the Carioca club's 130-year history.
Vbet took over former Botafogo jersey sponsor
This new collaboration is part of an international expansion strategy for both parties. For Thairo Arruda, CEO of Botafogo, this partnership comes at the right time for the Brazilian and American champion, who intends to continue his progression at the highest level of world football.
Vbet is not its first attempt at football. The bookmaker is already a partner of prestigious clubs such as AS Monaco and OGC Nice in France, Arsenal in England, Dynamo kyiv in Ukraine, as well as the national teams of Argentina, Ukraine and Malta.
This change of jersey sponsor is explained by a strategic reorganization: Vbet recently acquired the Brazilian operations of Parimatch, the former main sponsor of Botafogo. This transition will allow Vbet, whose activities in Brazil are managed by SC Operating Brazil Ltda based in São Paulo, to consolidate its presence in the Brazilian market while ensuring the migration of Parimatch customers to its platform.
