Author of six saves on Saturday evening against Montpellier, Lucas Perri kept his team alive. This allowed OL to win all three points.
There was indeed a logical homage from Virage Nord to Anthony Lopesbut on Saturday evening, one of the great gentlemen of this OL – Montpellier (1-0) was Lucas Perri. Now relieved of the shadow of his former competitor, the Brazilian goalkeeper shone. This is not necessarily what was expected with the arrival of the red lantern, but it was necessary that Perri shows itself to its advantage to see the Lyon team maintain a hope of victory. The scenario followed the right pattern with this Montpellier csc in added time, enough to put a smile on the Brazilian's face. “We didn’t play well this (Saturday) evening, but we managed to win and that’s what we will remember”he declared in French to journalists.
Saved by the bar and the VAR
OL would never have been able to achieve these three points without a minimum of talent from Lucas Perri and a little luck too. Quite angry a quarter of an hour from the end after the improbable failure of Fayadthe former doorman of Botafogo had done everything to keep his people afloat. The bar (3rd) then the VAR (53rd) had prevented Jordan Ferri to deceive Perri but the latter owed nothing to luck by slamming a header at point blank range Maksimovich (4th) or a free kick from Khazri. After the match, Lucas Perri preferred to play it modest, congratulating himself above all “for helping the team with my saves.” More than a kicking game, isn't that ultimately a goalkeeper's primary goal?
