As previously reported, the leaders of the Girondins de were contacted by the former President of OM,
Jacques-Henri Eyraudwho was “commissioned” by the former German and Bayern Munich international goalkeeper, Oliver Kahn. These contacts date back to December, and they were indeed, as the main person concerned declared, initial discussions before going further.

“Discussions about a possible entry into the Girondins de Bordeaux are only just beginning. There is nothing further to say at this stage.”

As mentioned by our site, Oliver Kahn's financial resources are not very significant – on the scale of a club buyout (around 35 million euros, editor's note) – and that is why we asked ourselves the question, as soon as the information comes out, of the presence, or not, of possible investors. The question then arose of a total buyout, or only of shares, since Gérard Lopez has been looking for investors to support him for months.

Speaking to the AP, the vice-president of the Girondins de Bordeaux,
Arnaud De Carliconfirmed the approach made by the former president of , adding that Gérard Lopez and his teams sought to find out what fund(s) could support them… But at the moment, everything remains unclear.

“I can confirm that we were approached by Jacques-Henri Eyraud on behalf of Oliver Kahn for the first time three weeks ago. There is nothing more at this point. We tried to find out a little more about the funds behind it. They did not want to reveal the name of the funds at this stage, that is normal. I think they will come back.”

Only time will tell. And obviously, we will have to see to what level FCGB's debt has fallen, and whether the Club will move up to National at the end of the financial year.
