At 33, Idriss Saadi has just announced that he is retiring due to recurring knee problems. The attacker was trained at ASSE.

The name of Idriss Saadi harkens back to a blessed era for AS Saint-Etienne supporters. The one where their club began to stabilize at the top of the Ligue 1 ranking, after being saved from relegation by Christophe Galtier. Under the leadership of the Marseillais, the Greens regularly qualified for the European Cup and even won their first trophy in three decades, the 2013 League Cup after a victory over Stade Rennais. It was in these years that Idriss Saadi emerged among the professionals.

5 goals in 25 matches for the Greens

Born in Valencia in 1992, the striker trained at ASSE. He was captain of the U19s having reached the final of the 2011 Gambardella Cup, lost on penalties (he had also missed his attempt). A few months later, he took his first steps among the pros, before being loaned in January 2012 to then to in 2012-13. But after 25 matches with the Greens (and 5 goals), aware that he was barred from competition, he decided to leave for Clermont. The start of a journey which took him to Cardiff, Courtrai, , Bruges, , Belouizdad and finally Andrézieux, where he had signed up in the summer of 2023. It was there, in National 2, that the former Green decided to call it quits due to recurring knee problems.
