Concern is in order for ASSE at the dawn of this year 2025. After a laborious first part of the season, the Greens will tremble until the end for their maintenance in Ligue 1.
When buying AS Saint-Etienne, the new owner Kilmer Sports certainly thought that it would be much easier to stay in Ligue 1. Several players were recruited last summer and in Forez, we were rather confident with the idea that this is enough to ensure at least a place in the soft underbelly of the championship without trembling. The first part of the season was much more difficult than expected. ASSE is only 16th after 15 days and Olivier Dall'Oglio paid the price for this bad start. But for Progressthe Saint-Etienne club has at least three reasons to hope to remain in Ligue 1 at the end of the 2024-2025 season.
The first is not really glorious but it has the merit of existing and giving hope to the Greens, it is about the abysmal weakness of its competitors. Montpellier, Le Havre, Angers and even Nantes are in at least as much difficulty as ASSE, which is only one point behind Nantes, currently 14th. Good news for the Saint-Etienne club, which will also be able to count on the appointment of a brand new coach in the person of Eirik Horneland, appointed in place of Olivier Dall'Oglio. The Norwegian coach is the second good reason to believe in a revival of Saint-Etienne in the second half of the season according to the regional daily, which finally cites as a third major argument the squad of the Greens which will seriously evolve in the second half of the season.

The gradual returns of Ben Old, Anthony Briançon, Thomas Monconduit, Yvann Maçon, Mickaël Nadé, Augustine Boakye and Ibrahima Wadji will allow the Saint-Etienne staff to have more choice and to compose a more competitive team each weekend.
