ASSE has its new coach. A week after thanking Olivier Dall'Oglio, the Saint-Etienne leaders formalized the arrival of Eirik Horneland. The 49-year-old Norwegian was presented at a press conference from the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard this Friday. Loïc Perrin, Sports Director of the Greens spoke. Extract.
Loïc Perrin (ASSE Sports Director) :
“I already wanted to have a little word for Olivier (Dall'Oglio) and Grégory (Pérès). We thanked them internally but we also have to do it publicly. We must not forget the work they have done. We had wonderful times together, great times, so we wanted to thank them. Now we have decided to start on a new project with Eirik (Horneland).“
ASSE already in contact with players
Loïc Perrin (ASSE Sports Director) :
“Concerning the transfer window, because it is certain that at this time this is what everyone wants to know: yes we have already talked about it. We have the idea of strengthening ourselves. We will see what happens but discussions have already started with certain players. Afterwards, what player profiles? It is not forbidden for experienced players to join us. We often talk about experience, but I consider that we have some experience in our squad. We certainly also have very young players, who don't necessarily know Ligue 1. But some have progressed since the start of the year.
We have always advocated that time is needed. In football we don't have a lot of them. But I think we are moving forward. And the idea will indeed be to improve the team, to give another identity to the team. This is also what we like in the profile of Eirik (Horneland). I like to talk about commitment when I see his team play. In terms of commitment and intensity, I am convinced that this is what the supporters expect here in Saint-Etienne..”
