Scheduled for Sunday afternoon, the 32nd final of the Coupe de France between Bordeaux and Rennes is covered by a prefectural decree. The text stipulates that Rennes supporters will have to travel on the four authorized buses. For the rest, fans of the Rouge et Noir will not be able to access Matmut Atlantique.
Before this poster between Bordeaux and Rennes, the authorities had first announced good news for the public. In conflict for several months, the Ultramarines and the North Gate, the two groups of Girondins supporters, have agreed to sign a non-aggression pact. The Aquitaine club is therefore no longer affected by systematic bans and will be able to welcome its supporters for the 32nd final of the Coupe de France. On the other hand, Rennes fans will not have the same freedom.
The Gironde prefecture has in fact banned “ to any person claiming to be a supporter of Stade Rennais » to enter Matmut Atlantique, or even to circulate in the city center of Bordeaux between Saturday December 21 at 6 p.m. and Monday December 23 at 8 a.m. If the faithful of the Rouge et Noir want to attend the match, they will have to travel on one of the four authorized buses. “ They must reach the Virsac area on Sunday at 12:45 p.m. sharp in order to be picked up and escorted by the police to the stadium. », specifies the prefectural decree.
Incidents between the two camps
Fans of the two teams aren't exactly known for their rivalry. But the authorities searched the archives and ended up finding incidents. On July 2, 2016 for example, eight years ago, “ two altercations took place between supporters of the two clubs during the quarter-final of Euro 2016 between Germany and Italy », recalls the prefecture, which also cites clashes after a Bordeaux-Guingamp last February.
