Wednesday evening during the 6th day, the Monegasques were swept away by Arsenal in London (3-0).
Monaco was not invited. Wednesday evening, during the 6e day of the Champions League, the Principality's players were no match for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium (3-0). Adi Hütter's men looked the Gunners in the eye during the first half hour before cracking on Bukayo Saka's first achievement of the evening (34e). Decimated by (too) many injuries, ASM lost a lot of balls in the midfield. Real offerings for the London attackers who took great pleasure in swallowing up the spaces left behind the Monegasque defense, placed very high on the pitch. The Rocher team could count themselves lucky to be only one goal behind at the break thanks to two superb saves from Radoslaw Majecki (25e27e).

The ASM was (completely) scuttled
Monaco balanced the proceedings in the second half by being much higher up the pitch. Takumi Minamino, who came on at half-time, did a lot of good for his team, adding undeniable technical quality in the midfield and in the last 25 meters. ASM dominated most of the second act without ever really worrying goalkeeper David Raya. The Red and Whites lacked bite, sharpness in the zone of truth against the Londoners who had their backs rounded.
Without realizing their highlight, the Rocher players were (logically) punished once again by Saka (78e), on a big error from the central defense signed Thilo Kehrer and Mohammed Salisu. Kai Havertz, who took part in his team's victory in the 73rd minute, completed, thanks to the clumsiness of the Monegasque defense once again, Arsenal's success (88th). By pocketing the three points at home, the Gunners, currently third in this Champions League, almost confirm their place in the top 8 and a direct qualification for the round of 16. For its part, ASM suffered a second consecutive defeat in C1 and plunged to 16e rank. The Principality still has a (very) good chance of being among the 24 teams that will see the play-offs.
