Very little used at Botafogo, injured for a long time, Jeffinho is today in difficulty with the Brazilian club. Loaned by OL, he is due to return at the end of the year. But the situation is not so obvious.
Like several other elements of Botafogo, the future of Jeffinho is far from being completely mapped out. As Adryelsonthe winger is on loan from Olympique Lyonnais, and this temporary transfer must end on January 1. But it is unlikely to see him return to the Rhône and play again with Pierre's team Sage. Why this, for performance reasons. Today, the Brazilian suffers from strong competition in his position with the Rio de Janeiro club, but also from his health concerns. His return to Brazil did not go as planned, with a first muscle injury between February and March after an interesting start (three goals in January 2024).
Towards a transfer this winter?
Above all, there was this big physical problem with the hamstring last May, followed by an operation. He also had to treat an infection in July, once again playing billiards. His return therefore only took place on November 21, when he came on for 24 minutes against Atlético Mineiro. He has not played again since. With only 19 appearances in 2024, his playing time is extremely low, even more so if we look since June (one meeting in six months).
So what’s next for Jeffinho? The Brazilian press indicates that Fogo would not want to keep him at the end of his loan. On the other side, Foot Market specifies that OL would like to leave him with the winner of the Copa Libertadores. Is a transfer expected this winter, while he is under contract until 2027? This is a possibility for the 24-year-old, who some local media would send to Santos, promoted to Serie A.
