AS Monaco announces the extension of Soungoutou Magassa's contract for two additional seasons. The French midfielder, who celebrated his 21st birthday on October 8, is now linked to the Club until June 2029.
Originally from Stains, in the Paris region, Soungoutou Magassa joined the AS Monaco Academy in the summer of 2018. The midfielder gradually progressed through the youth categories, from the U17s to the Elite Group, before make his debut with the main team in January 2022 during a round of 16 of the Coupe de France against Quevilly-Rouen.
Nearly 40 matches with AS Monaco
Since then, Soungoutou has established himself in the professional group. Versatile, capable of playing in midfield as well as in central defense, he played 21 matches last season, including 15 as a starter, thus contributing to the Rouge & Blanc's second place in Ligue 1, synonymous with qualification for the Ligue 1. Champions.
This season, Soungoutou Magassa continues to stand out in the French championship with notable performances during victories against RC Strasbourg (3-1) and Stade Brestois (3-2). His performances earned him a nomination for the November “Pépite Du Mois” trophy, which rewards the best Ligue 1 player born after January 1, 2003.
First professional goal against Benfica
Very recently, the French Espoirs international took a further step by scoring his first professional goal on November 27 against Benfica Lisbon, in the Champions League. An achievement which comes shortly after his debut in the competition against Red Star Belgrade (5-1) and a complete performance against Bologna FC 1909 (1-0).
Olympic medalist with the French U23 team
Regular member of the France Espoirs team and author of a successful 2023-2024 season with the Rouge & Blanc, Soungoutou was selected by Thierry Henry for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, where he played five matches and won the medal silver alongside Maghnes Akliouche and Chrislain Matsima.
