Beaten by Le Havre when they entered the Challenge Espoirs, the Greens were keen to get back on track against PSG this Monday. Mission accomplished (2-0)! For a long time, the meeting was closed between the two training centers, but solid, the Stéphanois managed to gain the upper hand over their opponents a few minutes before the break. While a goal was refused to ASSE for an offside position by Meïvyn Agesilas (21st), Jebryl Sahraoui pushed the opposing goalkeeper to reflex a little later (43rd). Almost immediately, Mathis Amougou, found by Igor Miladinovic, served Ayman Aiki perfectly in the Parisian area. The Saint-Etienne winger did not need to be asked and deceived the opposing goalkeeper (ASSE 1-0 Paris, 45e). The advantage was deserved for the Greens, serious and diligent in this first act.
Upon returning from the locker room, the Parisian reaction was expected. The visitors kept the ball, but the Greens continued to be incisive offensively. The Parisian goalkeeper first pushed back the deadline on a double opportunity initiated by Ayman Aiki and Meïvyn Agesilas (63rd) before losing a second time. Shifted into the right lane by Cheikh Fall, Igor Miladinovic overflowed and crossed hard in front of the Parisian cage. Coming into play a few minutes earlier and in an ideal position, Djylian N'Guessan took advantage of a favorable counterattack to double the lead (ASSE 2-0 Paris, 76e) ! Mass was said.
Thanks to this success against PSG, ASSE pockets four points and returns to its Espoirs Challenge group. The Greens will go to Montpellier at the beginning of February for the third day!
“It's a pleasure to play these matches, rejoices Razik Nedder. We saw two playful teams, who pressed and who wanted to have the ball. The technical level was well above what we usually experience, as was the intensity. We were in a new system with a 4-4-2 diamond which allowed us to move everyone forward. We showed a lot of mastery and our pressing worked, we are getting closer to our game plan and the Saint-Etienne values that we want to show. We will now have to put this intensity into the championship. We will see if the point taken against Espaly is a good point only if we manage to win against Chambéry.“
