The - cycling race returns to Nièvre in March 2025

The - cycling race will return to Nièvre on Tuesday March 11, 2025, during the third stage, surely in the form of a team time trial. If the arrival in is no longer in much doubt, the possibility of a departure from the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit is mentioned.

Eleven years after its last visit to Nièvre, Paris-Nice will return to the department next March. And as in 2014, Nevers will be there by welcoming the arrival of the third stage, Tuesday March 11, 2025.

€50,000 budgeted by the City of Nevers

Last September, it was Mayor Denis Thuriot who first mentioned the arrival of a “major cycling race in Nevers on Tuesday March 11”. An announcement which gained weight during the municipal council meeting on Tuesday November 26, where an envelope of 50,000 euros was budgeted for hosting a stage of Paris-Nice.

This third stage could also be entirely Nivernaise. Although we will have to wait until December 17, the date on which the route will be officially announced by Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), to know precisely the route, a rumor has been growing for several days. That of a team time trial whose start would take place on the Nevers-Magny-Cours circuit. In the same place where the German John Degenkolb triumphed in 2014, after a massive sprint.

John Degenkolb won the 3rd stage in a sprint, on the Magny-Cours circuit

For two years, ASO has favored a team time trial on the third day of racing. In 2023, it took place in Dampierre-en-Burly () and last year around (Yonne). In 2025, this will fall on the day of arrival in Nevers. “There is nothing done at the moment, absolutely nothing done,” says Serge Saulnier, director of the Nevers Magny-Cours circuit. “We have to wait until the round table is completed. »

If in 2014, the runners left the Salengro park in Nevers the day after arriving on the circuit, the peloton should this time set off in another department on Wednesday March 12.
