After OM's victory against OL last September, Neal Maupay upset the Lyonnais.
The Groupama Stadium was the scene of the Olympico, on September 22, between Olympique Lyonnais and Olympique de Marseille on behalf of the fifth day of Ligue 1. Although they were outnumbered after the expulsion by Leonardo Balerdi after just five minutes of play, the Phocaeans won with a score of 2-3. At the end of this meeting, Neal Maupay had shocked the Lyonnais with a bottle of water.
Maupay explains his reaction against the Lyonnais
Loaned by Everton to Olympique de Marseille, Neal Maupay began to convince coach Roberto De Zerbi. Author of two goals and three assists in 9 matches with OM, the French center forward published a story on Instagram in which he made fun of the Lyonnais. The former Nice player could be seen drinking sips of water from a bottle emblazoned with the logo of the Rhone club: “OL is water”. This means that he enjoys the defeat of his opponent. In an interview with Canal+this Sunday, the former AS Saint-Etienne striker explained behind the scenes of his story.
“OL is like water, you have to say how it went. It was after the match in the locker room, we celebrated, we were happy. I was drinking after the shower and Mick, our steward, said to me: 'It would be nice if I took a picture of you with this bottle'. I said: 'we're posing, I'm drinking with the logo (of OL on the bottle, Editor's note), we've just won, people will make the connection'. I like it when you have to scratch a little, I don't see anything wrong with that, you just don't have to go beyond the limits, it's just something I look for in life or on the field”explained the Olympique de Marseille player. It should be noted that Maupay is quite accustomed to mocking opponents.
