Arriving this summer from the Girondins de Bordeaux, Zuriko Davitashvili is amazed by the passion of the ASSE supporters.
Saturday evening, after the defeat in Rennes (0-5), ASSE coach, Olivier Dall'Oglio, like his captain, Gautier Larsonneur, pointed out the team's lack of character. The goalkeeper even said: “At home, we play nice because there are supporters”. It's true that the promoted player from Saint-Etienne shows a radical face, depending on whether he plays at home or away. In his boiling Cauldron, he transforms and can look any opponent straight in the eye. But far from his bases, deprived of his noisy twelfth man, he has much more difficulty. Larsonneur is not the only one to think this way. Arriving this summer, Zuriko Davitashvili admitted in the columns of Le Parisien that he was completely hallucinating at the madness of the supporters.
“It’s not a normal stadium, our supporters are crazy”
“The emotion after my hat-trick against Auxerre was incredible. This stadium, with our supporters, is incredible. And when you score, especially a hat-trick, this stadium is… more than a dream! In Georgia, people watch my matches and even they talk about the fact that the Saint-Etienne fans are incredible. It's not a normal stadium, our supporters are crazy (laughs). They love football so much. This hat-trick is the first of my career and maybe without them I wouldn't have done it. »
“I am obviously very happy to have been voted player of the month for October in Ligue 1. But for me, it is first and foremost the team that counts, and then the individual awards. Without my teammates, I wouldn't have won this one. When I received the offer from Saint-Étienne this summer, I already knew this team because we had played them with Bordeaux. I knew it was a very good atmosphere, everything is good here, the stadium, life… You have everything you need to play at the highest level. »
