Like every week, the Sainté Night Club met. Adrien Ponsard, former ASSE striker, and Pierre deciphered the Greens' victory at length while looking ahead to the next AS Saint-Etienne meeting. Excerpts.
Adrien Ponsard (Ex-ASSE) : “The opposing teams, when they arrive at Saint-Etienne, they hear the atmosphere in the stadium, they are afraid. The atmosphere there is enormous. It must not be that blocks them, on the contrary. The supporters are there to support them. It has always been said that it is the twelfth man. As long as they wet the jersey, they will fight for them. for them on the ground. don't want to say it's a fortress, because we still lost at home.”
Launch the machine outside for ASSE
Pierre (Ex-Sainté Inside) : “We can say that at home, we are solid. If I base myself on the figures, we took 12 points in 6 matches, so 2 points per match is great. I calculated, we conceded 5 goals in 6 matches at home. But we have the penultimate defense of the championship, and it is not due to our performances at home, but rather to our performances away. It's good to know that we can win matches at home. This is where maintenance will take place. We must not be satisfied with that. We would have to be able to keep the score running for the away side as well, because since the start of the season, it's been a point for Nantes. We have to start outside. If that’s the case, we’ll keep up without sweating too much.”
Rennes is playable
Adrien Ponsard (Ex-ASSE) : “Rennes is in tough times at the moment, it's an injured beast. They have just changed coaches, but we see little impact on the first match. There is not yet this Sampaoli impact. It's a match in which you have to go with your teeth to try to scratch at least one point. Bringing something back from Rennes would be very interesting. They are capable of it.”
