LOSC's next opponent in the Champions League, Bologna was traveling to the capital this Sunday to face Lazio, one of the teams (five) in the fight for the Serie A title this season.
Unable to win a single match on the European scene this season, Bologna remained on three successive victories in the championship. However, the step was too high this time, in Rome, in particular because of an early expulsion. Tasteless, the first period was nevertheless decisive, marked by two successive cards received by Tommaso Pobega (23′ and 35′). The Italian midfielder was the author of a gross foul 90 meters from his own goal on Matteo Guendouzi, French international. What followed was very difficult for Vicenzo Italiano and his men who no longer offered anything.
Far from being inspired during the first act, despite clear territorial domination, Lazio obviously put pressure on returning from the locker room to capitalize on their superiority. Able to resist with a regrouped defense, Bologna ended up cracking for the first time, but Boulaye Dia's goal was refused for offside (66'). A short-lived respite since Samuel Gigot, formerly of Olympique de Marseille, opened the scoring a few moments later (68′). Mentally, the cord then gave way and the visitors took a second blow to the head (Zaccagni 72′) never to get up again. Dele-Bashiru even concluded the show in added time (90+2′) for maximum success and a crushing victory (3-0).
The task will certainly not be as easy for LOSC, which travels to Bologna this Wednesday (9 p.m.) as part of the fifth day of the Champions League, but confidence is in its ranks. Serie A is completely crazy this season with five teams fighting for the title. These are only separated by one point (29-28 pts), when AC Milan (7th, 19 pts) of Paulo Fonseca and Bologna (8th, 18 pts) are already lagging behind.
