The FC Nantes has been experiencing worrying instability at the head of its technical staff for several years. A succession of coaches who call into question the choices of the management of the FCN. FC Nantes: Pierre Aristouy settles accounts with the Kita family
FC Nantes, led by Antoine Kombouaré, hosts Le Havre this Sunday in one of the posters at the end of the 12th day of Ligue 1. It is a meeting that does not necessarily bring back good memories. one of the former coaches of the green and yellow club. This is Pierre Aristouy, the one whom Jocelyn Gourvennec succeeded before being dismissed in turn.
Dismissed by FC Nantes in November 2023 after only 13 matches, Pierre Aristouy retains a stubborn bitterness towards the Kita family. In a recent interview with West Francethe former coach of the Canaries delivered his version of the facts and denounced unfair treatment. “From the start, I was placed under the mistrust of leaders who were not sure that I had made the right choice”he regretted. He notably mentioned this last match against the FCN which sealed his fate:
“I had a complicated schedule from the start (Lille, Marseille, Monaco, 2 points out of 9 possible). I then gave myself a break with 3 victories in 4 matches. This Le Havre match comes following three defeats, including one the week before in Metz (3-1), which I think left more of a mark than the draw against Le Havre.remembers Aristouy.
A lack of strategy and visibility
A success was needed to give Pierre Aristouy a reprieve, unfortunately it was this meeting which allowed the Nantes management to decide his fate. “What bothers me with these leaders (the Kita family) is that if out of the 19 strikes that day against Les Havrais, one had returned, I would not have been dismissed at that time. This is the result of a lack of strategy and visibility”he declared.
“Ultimately, I would almost perhaps have understood more that they sacked me after Metz. I understand immediately when I see Franck’s name appear on my mobile, the following Wednesday morning, when I go to Jonelière”added the former FC Nantes coach, who also revealed that he had a premonition during a club Foundation dinner, a few days before his dismissal.
“Some security people, who must have known about my future, showed me their friendship in an astonishing way. I get home around 12:30 a.m. and I tell my wife that something is weird.”he said.
