It is a surprising controversy which has been highlighted in recent hours by the daily Marca. The Sky Bar project at the Santiago Bernabéu, considered the centerpiece of the new stadium, is at the heart of a scandal which is preventing its opening. In July 2023, Real Madrid entrusted the management of the space to Anastia Gourmet Hostelería, a newly created company with minimal capital and no experience in the sector, despite offers from large, recognized companies. This contract, expected to generate an annual turnover of more than 15 million euros, required the Sky Bar to be operational before Taylor Swift's concerts in May 2024.
Several million vanished!
However, Anastia has accumulated a debt of 4 million euros to the suppliers who carried out the work, the latter having advanced funds relying on the reputation of the club. The company did not use these sums to pay the necessary costs, which led the suppliers to refuse to provide the documents necessary to obtain the opening license. In addition, Anastia would have received significant advances from brands like Heineken and Schweppes, which fuels suspicions of a possible scam.
In August, the Jerezano García-Delgado Group acquired 51% of Anastia by promising an injection of 6 million euros, but did not honor this commitment. Shortly after, this group tried to resell its shares, angering Real Madrid. The club then launched legal actions to terminate the contract and regain management of the space. To date, the matter is before the courts. The Sky Bar remains closed, and many planned events have been canceled. Real Madrid is working to resolve the situation quickly and assign management to a reliable company.
