This Sunday, November 17, 2024, the
Girondins de Bordeaux competed in the 7th round of the French Cup outside facing the club
Bressuire. The meeting was played at Alain Métayer Stadium.
The players of Bruno Irles won two goals to zero thanks to goals scored by N'Famady Diaby and Safouane Karim, on a pass from Soufiane Bahassa.
TOPS
Lassana Diabaté: The Bordeaux goalkeeper continues to put in a string of good performances since the start of the season. We would have even forgotten that at the very beginning he should have been in balance with Sonny Laiton, who finally left. In this meeting he is still decisive. From the 2nd minute of play he goes for a shot on the left side to deflect for a corner. In the second half it was a save on his line which was decisive. Beyond that, he had a few situations of which he remained the master, on his line and in the air. A sure value.
Safouane Karim : This is the first time this season where he has produced a fairly complete performance, even if he hasn't played the most. During the match he hit his right side. He was looking for Diaby in the area, even if the last gesture was sometimes imprecise. But he didn't give up and showed it throughout the meeting. He could have found the way to goal, notably in the 56th minute, after a double shot well deflected by the opposing goalkeeper. He was still rewarded in the 73rd minute, after having well accompanied the action on the left side of Bahassa, who crossed and found Safouane who had come to cut the near post. It's up to him to continue on this path and release his balloons a little faster.
N’Famady Diaby: Surprise starter at the forefront of the Bordeaux attack, N'Famady had the difficult task of replacing Andy Carroll. In a position that is not at all his, the midfielder did rather well. From the 11th minute he opened the scoring on the surface, following an opening from Ben Khemis for a chest check from Karim, blocked by a defender. He is there to recover the ball and score. Then in the meeting, he will have been able to make himself available, even if it means going down to collect some balls. A real Swiss army knife that can help out at several positions.
Soufiane Bahassa's entry: Substitute at kick-off, Soufiane came into play in the 62nd minute, in place of Amadou Diallo. The difference was immediately felt. More precise, more powerful technically and physically, he brought on the left side. He is also a decisive passer for Safouane Karim. A great comeback that deserved to be highlighted and rewarded for a player who does not calculate his efforts, regardless of the opponent.
The Flops
Amadou Diallo : He was once again aligned on the left wing of the Bordeaux attack. The matches follow one another and are similar for Amadou. He puts a lot of energy into lifting the ball, and we certainly won't blame him. But then it is his decision-making and information that are not yet fast and good enough. He is often caught or pushed around by opposing defenders. A small lack of physical challenge which will have to be compensated for by more accuracy if he wants to be more decisive. He then slowed down to finally come out in the 62nd minute, replaced by Bahassa who immediately showed that he was ahead of Amadou.
First name: He started in the right lane for this match. There is not much to say on the offensive level, because he did not offer much and his complementarity with Karim was not obvious. To his credit, he doesn't often play matches with him. He had waste and gave us scares on several occasions, particularly on missed deliveries. It's not the first time. Against Bressuire, it was not punished immediately, but in N2 it could be.
