Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has opened the door to a return to his former club, but not as a player.

The German hero hung up his boots earlier this year, ending a glittering and trophy-laden career. Just months after leaving Madrid, the 34-year-old has spoken about one day returning to Los Blancos, while admitting his relationship with the club is ” just too narrow.”

He said on his podcast Einfach mal luppen: “
The importance of Real Madrid will always be the same for me. It was a very long, wonderful, successful and also loving stage. That will always remain, I will always feel close to Real Madrid, there is no doubt about it. And I will always defend Real Madrid, I will always be on their side. That won't change, the relationship is just too close. »

Kroos wants to play a role at Real

“Putting myself publicly in the Real environment is something that I think is not a relevant issue for me at the moment. For now, I would say: no, no matter how connected I am to the club. But I'm not saying that I will never do anything with Real again in my whole life or that I won't have anything to do with the club, I don't rule out that possibility, of course. In what role, we will see; maybe I will know better when a few years have passed since the end of my career, in which direction I could imagine something or not, and whether the club can also imagine it or not. But I don't rule out that at some point I could play a role at Real again. »

Kroos has won virtually everything a player can win in football during his many years in the sport. He played for Bayern Munich, Bayer Leverkusen and Madrid – winning a host of trophies along the way – and lifted the 2014 World Cup with his country. After what he did in Madrid, he will probably be welcomed with open arms.

Kroos, who admitted that his wife Jessica was relieved at his retirement, stressed that he was “ very busy » Right now. He added: “Anyway, right now I'm very busy, completely engaged in the projects I have and the ones I'm working on, so I won't say anything more at the moment. But, as I said before: given my proximity to Real and my relationship with the club, I would never rule out doing something at Real at some point in the future. »
