This Thursday, the LFP unveiled the new trophy awarded to the French champion at the end of the season. The Hexagoal that OL raised twice has had its day.

The PSG although it has reigned over Ligue 1 for more than ten years, the Parisian club has never achieved the feat achieved by theOL : win the Ligue 1 title seven times in a row, a first in the history of the French championship. Weaned from the coronation since 2008, the club still keeps this record to itself and the images from Place des Terreaux lifting the trophy plunge into nostalgia. If OL win Ligue 1 again, the Lyon captain will no longer lift the Hexagoal as Claudio Caçapa and Juninho in their time.

In fact, the LFP unveiled this Thursday the new trophy rewarding the French champion. Gone are the silvery gray tones of Hexagoal and make way for gold plating. The artist’s work Kiss consists of “a hexagon-shaped base, on which the winners of the event have been engraved since its origin, in 1932/33. Columns decorated with grooves, in the shape of 1, overlook the base, each evoking the place of the champion in the ranking and draw the V for victory two by two. Finally, we find at the top an immaculate and luminous sphere, gold plated like the entire Trophy.. For the name, you will have to wait a little longer.
