The return of David Alaba postponed again

The Austrian central defender continues his journey towards a return to the field which unfortunately still seems far away.

The curse of injuries does not weaken on Valdebebas’ side. Indeed, one of the last central defenders available for Carlo Ancelotti, Jacobo Ramón, suffered a muscular injury in training. Only Rüdiger and Vallejo remain at Carlo’s disposal, even if Militao, also affected, should be back for the match against Celta Vigo.

For his part, David Alaba, whose injury dates back to December 17, 2023, is still in his recovery process which is taking much longer than expected. Originally he was supposed to be back in October, then November, then December. As Relevo informs, he will not finally be back until next January… The Austrian has already missed more than half of last season with Real as well as the Euro with Austria. If he returns at the beginning of 2024, he will then have missed 13 months of competition.

However, Alaba has been training at Valdebebas for a few weeks and the visual impression is rather positive. He seems to be doing better and the resumption of racing has done him good even if it will still be a few months before he can compete in an official match. For Carlo Ancelotti, Alaba is an essential player in the group and he needs him all the more given all the packages at the start of the season.

In addition, Alaba is capable of playing central defender but also left side or even midfielder and left winger and it is not a luxury to have such a profile for this season which promises to be long and trying. Still, Real will not take any risks with the Austrian even if his return becomes urgent for the club.
