Milan Skriniar, 29-year-old central defender for Paris Saint-Germain (contract until 2028) and Slovakia (74 caps), was at a press conference this Wednesday on the sidelines of his selection’s gathering. He was notably invited to look back on his summer with a possible departure and his current state of mind.

“There were a lot of options. Several of them were on loan. Subsequently we made a decision with the club that it would be better for me to stay and fight for a chance to join the eleven.
Mentally, I’m fine. I was impatiently awaiting the meeting. The situation is what it is and I’m certainly not happy about it. The only thing I can influence is that I train well. »
The Slovak captain could have left this summer, the club was not closed and he was able to ask himself the question while his playing time was likely to be low. But, undoubtedly given the offers and missing options to replace him, the two parties preferred to continue together.
Which could give rise to a good surprise, with Skriniar returning to his best level. His last appearance on the field was more satisfactory. But he still couldn’t continue.
The season is likely to be long for the defender, who already plays little while Lucas Hernandez and Presnel Kimpembe are in the infirmary. But we appreciate his determination and we wish him success in becoming a great news of the season.
In the meantime, he must take advantage of this time in the selection in order to gain playing time and confidence.
