Toni Kroos confesses, the big rant

Toni Kroos has responded very directly to the debate over his legacy at Real Madrid.

The former Germany international chose to make a bold decision at the end of the 2023/24 season by deciding not to sign a new contract extension at Madrid. Kroos has confirmed he will leave after Real Madrid win the Champions League final and will retire from football completely after Euro 2024.

Despite rumors that he could be convinced of a return, Kroos has remained steadfast in his stance and the 34-year-old is enjoying his rest. Kroos will attend Real Madrid’s home game against Villarreal this weekend, on his first trip back to the Santiago Bernabeu stadium, but he is not dwelling on the past. “There’s no point in talking about my departure,” he said on the Einfach Mal Luppen podcast.

Kroos forgets the past

“It’s a compliment to have been important, but you have to adapt. Real Madrid adapted when Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos left, they still adapt and continue to win. We won the Champions League twice without these two, even though they were very important, absolute legends. The same thing will happen now. »

Kroos has reiterated his desire not to return to playing, and he is not yet considering becoming a coach, despite his plans to open a youth academy in Madrid in 2025.
