“We had an average performance from Portugal’s participation in the European Championship. The European Championship was a very important lesson and the future is bright for this generation. We have to believe that Portugal will do better”, said Cristiano Ronaldo, in a promotional campaign for a new Portuguese news channel.

Regarding the tournament held in Germany, in which the Portuguese team was eliminated in the quarter-finals by France, Ronaldo admitted that Spain was the best team and that they ended up being a “fair winner”.

Turning 40 in February next year, Ronaldo assured that he would remain available to coach Roberto Martínez for the next group stage matches of the Nations League, which will be in September, October, and November, against Croatia, Scotland, and Poland.

“When I leave the national team, I won’t tell anyone beforehand. It will be a spontaneous decision, but I’ve also thought it through. Now, I want to help the national team in the next matches, soon in the Nations League. I would really like to play”, confessed the forward, who has 212 games and 130 goals for the national team.

Regarding the end of his career, Ronaldo said that “it won’t be soon”, but he admitted his desire to finish at his current club, Al Nassr, in Saudi Arabia.

“After that, I don’t see myself being a coach. I will do things outside of football”, he concluded.
