Apple has officially announced that it will be holding its special iPhone 16 launch event on September 9, where it will also see fit to announce a slew of additional products, such as the Apple Watch and much more. As excited as we are, the company could also announce a slew of other product upgrades next month with new internals and possibly some design changes. Everything Apple could announce at its September 9 ‘It’s Glowtime’ event
The iPhone 16 launch event will be live-streamed across various platforms, including YouTube, Apple TV, and its dedicated website at 10:00 AM on September 9. If you are not familiar with what devices you should expect, here’s what to expect from the company.
iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus
The first thing the company could announce is the new iPhone 16 and the iPhone 16 Plus, both of which will feature a redesigned back with a vertical camera layout instead of a diagonal. The duo will also launch with a new Action Button which was previously exclusive for the ‘Pro’ models. Capture Button could also make a cut on the standard models as the company aims to bring it to the entire lineup. Much like every year, Apple will upgrade the new iPhone 16 models with better internals to bolster its upcoming Apple Intelligence features.
iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max
Other than the standard models, the iPhone 16 Pro models will potentially be the highlight of Apple’s upcoming ‘It’s Glowtime’ event with their new size and form factor. The smaller ‘Pro’ will feature a 6.3-inch display, while the bigger ‘Pro Max’ will come with a 6.9-inch display, making them one of the biggest iPhones the company has launched since the device’s debut. The camera hardware will be upgraded on both models, but the general design language will remain the same. The ‘Pro’ models could also host a bevy of dedicated Apple Intelligence features.
Apple Watch Series 10, Ultra 3, And SE 3
In the Apple Watch category, Apple will potentially redesign the Series 10 with a bigger display and a slightly slimmer body. The company could launch the new design as part of its 10th anniversary of the Apple Watch. Other than this, the Ultra 3 will also be upgraded with the latest internals but with little to no design changes. Lastly, the Apple Watch SE 3 could come in a plastic body to attract the younger audience and parents. We will see the entire lineup upgrade to the latest processors with brighter displays, but note that the final word rests with Apple.
AirPods 4 Variants
Apple is finally upgrading its base AirPods lineup, introducing two new models that will cater to the lower-end and mid-range categories. Both AirPods models will come with their own share of new audio features, along with a potential redesign for the base models, with the design looking similar to the ‘Pro’ models, but we do not have confirmation at this point. The company is basically aiming to make the devices available with dedicated features for all types of target audiences.
Apple Intelligence
Apple’s AI focus could stretch from the WWDC to its September event with dedicated Apple Intelligence features for the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro models. It was reported earlier that Apple Intelligence will play a key role in the announcement of the new devices, and we are waiting to see what different features the company has planned for the new devices, which did not see daylight in June at the company’s WWDC event.
iOS 18 and Other Software Updates
Soon after the event, Apple will seed release candidate builds of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15, watchOS 11, tvOS 18, and visionOS 2 to developers as part of its final wave of beta testing. The updates will be released soon after when the devices hit the shelves before September 20. The new software updates will boast all the features the company announced earlier this year, including various AI features that Apple announced at its WWDC event.
iPad mini 7 and Entry-Level iPad
It has been a long time since the iPad mini 6 was announced with the A16 Bionic chip, and despite its new design, the device is due for an upgrade. We expect the company to announce the iPad mini 7 and iPad 10 at its ‘It’s Glowtime’ event alongside the new iPhone 16 models. Note that the external design of the devices will remain the same, but the company could prepare the devices for Apple Intelligence features. This means that the iPad mini 7 could at least feature the A17 Pro or the A18 Pro chip for better performance. The entry-level iPad could also come with upgraded internals and possibly new features. However, details on the subject are scarce at this stage, so take the new one with a grain of salt.
