It’s official, the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) announces the end of the collaboration between it and Aliou Cissé. An interim staff will lead the Lions for the October window.
Aliou Cissé is no longer the coach of the Senegal national team. His expired contract will not be renewed. As announced by Sud Quotidien this morning, the FSF confirms and gives details of the reasons for this unexpected decision by the Ministry of Sports.
“The Senegalese Football Federation informs public opinion that it received this Monday, September 30, 2024 a confidential letter from Madam Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Madam Khady Diéne GAYE not approving the amendment renewal for one year of the contract of the coach of the national team A, Aliou CISSE for the following reasons: failure to achieve the objectives assigned as part of the amendment of November 7, 2022 which expired on August 31, 2024 ( victory at CAN 2023 and qualification for the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup), the regression of our national team in the FIFA rankings and the risk of disaffection between our national selection and the Senegalese in general. The authority deduced as a consequence of its decision that Mr. CISSE was no longer covered by a contract duly approved by the State of Senegal and could no longer lead the national team from that moment on. Madam Minister ultimately invited the FSF to take the necessary measures to ensure the participation of Senegal in the qualifying phase for CAN 2025” can we read in the FSF press release this Wednesday, July 2.
This decision by the Ministry of Sports to stop the collaboration with Aliou Cissé is recorded by the FSF. The body announces the establishment of an interim staff “for the continuity of the team’s participation in the qualifying phase for “CAN 2025”, taking into account the urgent nature of the situation”.
