Ghana striker, Antoine Semenyo has reacted to his stunning goal against Southampton in the Premier League.

AFC Bournemouth returned to winning ways on Monday night against the Saints after back-to-back defeats against Chelsea and Liverpool.

Brazilian forward, Evanilson opened the scoring account for the Cherries on the 17th minute before Burkinabe international Dango Ouattara doubled the lead fifteen minutes later.

Semenyo extended the lead subsequently in the first half after tormenting several watching defenders before drilling a low effort into the left corner from the edge of the box.

“I just tried to create some space and shoot really and I got enough space and I hit it hard and low and it trickled in,” Semenyo said.

“So I’m happy. I caught the defenders off guard, a chop and like I said, I just wanted to create space and get a shot away. I did and it went in,” he added.

AFC Bournemouth are currently sitting 11th on the league log with eight points after six matches and will play as guests to Leicester City this weekend.

The 24-year-old has now scored three goals and provided an assist in six Premier League appearances for AFC Bournemouth in the ongoing season so far.

Antoine Semenyo is expected to be named in Black Stars squad for the doubleheader against Sudan next week in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
