Super XIII – Alan Walsh: “We have a great team that has potential” – Rugby League

Alan Walsh, coach of FC Lézignan XIII, gives a mid-season review of his team in Super XIII.

It's a mixed result for the start of the season. We had to manage the departure of three important players (Connor O'Beirne, Tao and Clément Martin), I don't want to make excuses but in addition to these key players leaving, we have this year more injuries while the season passed, we had been spared. It is in this context that we had to find our feet, make adjustments to find our game which combines speed and solid defense.

This year, we are losing games by a few points that we won last year by a few points. It's sport, sometimes the coin falls on the right side and for us this year it fell on the wrong side. We have a great team that has potential but we have work to do, particularly on our discipline and the mistakes that cost us dearly at the end of matches. If we regain confidence in ourselves, in our defense and our warrior DNA, there is no doubt that we can change the situation for the second half of the season.

I have confidence in my players, some have really been up to the task at the start of the season with great revelations like Vincent Calvayrac, Loïc Taurin and exemplary executives like Anthony Ors or Stuart Mason. I hope that the arrival of Paul Momirovski will galvanize our troops. He can be that strike player that we are missing and who tilts the matches to our advantage, there is no doubt that with his experience and his power added to our team eager to win, we can do something.

Another positive note is that Jordan Flovie is first in the Super XIII top scorers.
