In the middle of a block of four matches, the Pro D2 clubs arrive at a first turning point of the season. The situation is simple, if they want to move into the right direction before the end of the year and a two-week break, the next two meetings will be crucial.

Upcoming matches could well draw some lessons even if everything will still be possible in this long marathon. At the dawn of this 14e day, 5 questions come out of the woodwork.

-Brive: who will be in the shock of the weekend?

Brive travels to Grenoble this Friday December 13, 2024 for what is the shock of this 14e daytime. After nine victories in thirteen matches, the two teams have 42 points and share the lead in the championship. The confrontation makes one salivate on paper with quite simply the two best attacks in Pro D2 who will challenge each other.

In the offensive register, Grenoble (391 points scored) is slightly ahead of Brive (343 points scored). But to deploy their game, the Isère residents will have a hard time facing visitors who are used to putting up barbed wire. With 265 points collected, the Brivists are the best defense in the championship. It remains to be seen who will gain the upper hand.

-Soyaux-Angoulême: the awakening of Ain?

Oyonnax hasn't been able to do it since the start of the season. The Ain players have only won four times and are at penultimate place in the ranking with 19 units. A position far from the ambitions of the Oyomen. Even more problematic, Oyonnax remains on five consecutive losses in the championship, including two at home.

The situation is becoming more and more complicated for the club which will try to restart the machine this week with the Soyaux-Angoulême reception. But be careful, the Charentais are very comfortable away from their base with already 19 points collected away from home in seven games.

Béziers-: who will take the break?

Underdog duel between Béziers (3rd, 37 points) and Montauban (6th, 35 points). If they were still at the top of the rankings, not long ago, the Montalbanese machine experienced some problems and remains on two defeats in a row. Sébastien Tillous-Borde's squad will try to break the bad streak in Hérault.

However, the task promises to be complicated against the ASBH which intends to make a small gap on its pursuers to catch up with the leading duo.

-Provence Rugby: a first away for Aix?

If Provence Rugby wants to return to the top of Pro D2, it will have to glean points away from home. Currently, Jules Plisson and his teammates remain without any victory away from their bases.

A trip to Dax is never easy, but it could mark a turning point for Provence Rugby which will try to ride the continuity after a short defeat (31-30) at .

Adrien Lapègue, Gabin Lorre or Lucas Da Silva: who will take the throne?

With 8 tries in 12 matches each, Adrien Lapègue (Provence Rugby), Gabin Lorre (Béziers) and Lucas Da Silva (Brive) are competing for the title of top scorer in the championship. A struggle that is likely to continue during this 14e daytime. In form, advantage at the back of Béziers which remains on 6 tries during the last 5 games.
