Guillaume Rouet, scrum half of Aviron Bayonnais, and Alexandre Plantier, pillar of Biarritz Olympique, are the guests of “100% Rugby” on France Bleu Pays Basque this Monday. A look back at the defeat in Toulon before the reception at Stade Français and the upcoming match for the BO against Aurillac.
Aviron Baïonnais is preparing for the reception at Stade Français after its defeat in Toulon. Biarritz Olympique begins a crucial block in Pro D2 against Aurillac. Interview with Guillaume Rouet and Alexandre Plantier, the scrum half and the pillar, guests of 100% Rugby on France Bleu Pays Basque this Monday, November 25.
The defeat against Toulon (39-19) leaves a bitter taste to the Bayonnais. “A lot of inaccuracies in our game, especially on rucks and hand faults”recognizes Guillaume Roue. This setback highlights gaps after a long break. However, Rowing showed its resilience, coming back to 17-16 at the break before giving in under Toulon pressure. A mixed performance that will have to be corrected on Sunday against Stade Français. For the scrum-half, this meeting represents an opportunity to regain confidence: “A victory before the European break would allow us to stay in the race for the Top 6.” With a current 7th place, the Bayonnais are still in the game, but know that each misstep could tip them into the second half of the ranking.
The BO, in search of consistency, hosts Aurillac this Friday for the 12th day of Pro D2. A meeting marks the start of the third block. “They’re a tough team, but they also know how to surprise away from home”warns Alexandre Plantier. The pillar, who arrived this summer, knows his former club well, with which he spent four seasons. He describes Aurillac as a bastion of training rugby, capable of standing up to the best Pro D2 teams. Biarritz players will have to manage the two receptions from Aurillac and Nice for two trips to Dax and Colomiers. For Plantier, the challenge lies as much in the mind as in the discipline: “This block can firmly position us at the top of the table, provided we do not underestimate our opponents.”
