Beaten for the third time in a row in Armandie by Montauban, the Agenais took a big blow to the head. At a press conference, William Demotte took responsibility and decided to speak on behalf of his team.
“I would like to start this press conference by speaking on behalf of the staff and the players. We apologize because it was the most important match of the year for the club. The derby was really important. We disappointed our supporters, we disappointed the city of Agen and much more than that. I really ask them for forgiveness.”
With these strong words, William Demotte wanted to address the people of Lot-et-Garonnais. A people once again bruised by a defeat in the derby against Montauban. The third in a row in Armandie. The fault of a completely failed first half. It’s the Clément Garrigues center who speaks about it best: “The key today was the rucks. We lost all our rucks. We didn't have a fast ball unlike last week in Angoulême. It's as simple as that.”
Objectives revised downwards
Four victories for seven defeats. Two losses in Armandie. The SUA is definitely in trouble. Against Montauban, he suffered a third disappointment in a row. “We are going to put aside our high objective which was to qualify the club at the end of the season, and we are going to talk about a middle objective. That of ensuring the maintenance of the club as quickly as possible to consolidate our project with a place in the middle of the ranking”thus certified Sébastien Calvet.
The Agenais are in a tough situation. Despite the exciting game offered since the start of the season, the new project takes time. “Afterwards, no man died. If we catch up on these four forgotten points during the next block, we will return to our objectives. The SUA will perhaps be different in strategy from now on, but not in the head nor in ambitions”tempers Clément Garrigues.
The center, despite a real disappointment displayed, wants to be positive: “Offensively, we're doing things that we haven't seen for three years. We're playing a pleasant game… There's not everything to throw away. Like this evening (Thursday) against Montauban, we don't have to throw everything away. throw away. If we don't take this counter at the hour mark, we're in the nails.”
From now on, the Agenais will benefit from a few days of rest before returning to training next Thursday. Can this group recover quickly? “There is no crisis after this defeat. We lost by seven points against the biggest of the group. We are not destabilized by this defeat however, we are really disappointed. We are not going to change much in our way of working, on the other hand we will demonstrate great humility and a great state of mind and this state of mind which is very strong, will not be taken away from us whatever happens. “ The SUA only has a few days to get its head back on track.
