Scrum half Yann Lesgourgues, 33, is at the end of his contract with Union Bordeaux-Bègles. Arriving in Gironde from his training club, Biarritz Olympique, Lesgourgues could well return to his roots.
According to Sud Ouest, the player would be very interested in the idea of finding the BO, and negotiations seem to be progressing.
Negotiations well underway
According to L'Équipe, Lesgourgues and the Basque club have started increasingly concrete discussions. The door is therefore open for the native Bayonnais to return to the club where he grew up.
With his experienced profile, Lesgourgues would bring a major asset to the BO, in search of stability and leaders on the ground. Trained at the club, the scrum half knows the DNA of Basque rugby perfectly.
Jonathan Joseph extends at BO
At the same time, Biarritz Olympique is securing its squad. England international Jonathan Joseph, also 33, has just extended his contract for one season. He will be linked with the Basque club until 2026, an extension that adds experience and stability to the team.
With a prolonged Joseph and a Lesgourgues approaching, Biarritz Olympique hopes to play the leading roles in the near future. By banking on experienced players, the club hopes to rely on profiles capable of pulling the group to the top.
Fans of the BO can therefore hope to see a well-known face again in Biarritz colors. It remains to be seen whether Lesgourgues will sign to return to the Aguilera stadium, where it all began for him.
