Criticized since the announcement of her arrival in the famous group Linkin Park which is making its comeback, the American singer Emily Armstrong spoke out this Saturday, September 7 on Instagram. Many fans of the rock group had indeed expressed their discomfort with her integration, citing her links with the Church of Scientology but also with the actor Danny Masterson, convicted of rape.

At the trial of the star actor of « That ’70s Show », Emily Armstrong, who was accused of rape by three women, attended a hearing in what was seen as implicit support. Furthermore, Danny Masterson and Emily Armstrong were both known for their ties to the Church of Scientology. The organization was accused of trying to defend the actor by censoring the complainants’ speech.

“A few years ago, I was asked to support someone I considered a friend in a court appearance, and I attended a preliminary hearing as an observer.”Emily Armstrong said on Instagram this Saturday, saying she wanted to « clarifier » the past. “Soon after, I realized I shouldn’t have done it. I always try to see the good in people, and I misjudged him. I’ve never spoken to him since,” she said.

A way to reassure her fans and those of the group Linkin Park, while the links between the singer and the actor had remained unclear until then. During Danny Masterson’s trial, three women accused him of raping them at his home in Hollywood Hills, between 2001 and 2003, at the time when he participated in « That 70’s Show »Two rapes were recognized by the courts, and the star was finally sentenced to 30 years in prison.

“Unimaginable details emerged and he was subsequently found guilty”summarizes the new singer of Linkin Park in her message on Instagram. “To put it as clearly as possible: I do not condone abuse or violence against women and I sympathize with the victims of these crimes.”she then concluded.

However, Emily Armstrong has not spoken about her ties to the Church of Scientology. The singer was seen in 2013 at the religious organization’s 44th anniversary gala. In the United States, Scientology is protected by the Constitution which guarantees freedom of worship, but it is considered a cult in several other countries.

Linkin Park announced their comeback on Friday, September 5, seven years after the tragic death of their former singer and leader Chester Bennington. Emily Armstrong, co-founder of the band Dead Sara in 2005, has been chosen to replace him. The band also announced the upcoming release of an album entitled ” From Zero »a marker of his new beginning.
