The Montreal Canadiens lost 4 to 3 in overtime in front of the New Jersey Devils on Saturday at the Bell Center.

It was Jack Hughes who gave his family the victory during the additional period.

The Devils quickly took control of the match by taking an advance from 2 to 0 thanks to Nico Hischier and Jesper Bratt. Tomas Tatar, the former tricolor, then accentuated the advantage of his family at 3 to 1 in the second period.

The first trio of local favorites got up at the right time. In fact, Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield and Juraj Slafkovsky were on the ice for the three goals of CH. The first city has raised a goal and two mentions, while the second reduced the brand to 3 to 2 by scoring its 25th campaign goal. Slafkovsky also put the shoulder to the wheel with two aids.

It was a first evening for defender Alexandre Carrier, who sparkled the red light for the first time with the Canadian by beating goalkeeper Jake Allen thanks to a lead from the blue line.

Beds

As he has demonstrated since his arrival with the CH, goalkeeper Jakub Dobes was solid in front of his net. He will certainly regret the goal granted to Bratt at the end of the first period, but he multiplied the major stops over the game, especially on Stefan Noesen by released the mitt to steal a goal at the end of the third period.

The Czech Cerbère ended his work evening with 40 stops.

False departure

Once again, the Canadian struggled to start first half of the meeting.

The men of Martin St-Louis allocated three of the first four goals of the meeting, drawing from the back 3 to 1 in the middle of the second period. The Devils even led 26 to 10 in terms of penalties with just over six minutes to make in the second commitment.

With this defeat, CH is 10th in the Eastern association with a 24-20-5 and 53 point sheet, two points from the eighth and last row giving access to the playoffs held by the Blue Jackets in Columbus.

The Canadian will be back in action on Tuesday during the visit of the Winnipeg jets at the Bell Center.
