“We will summon elections next Wednesday. I will meet the Lieutenant Governor on Tuesday. We need a mandate of the people to combat Donald Trump’s customs tariffs, “he said during a press briefing in Brampton.

“With a strong mandate, we will be able to fight Donald Trump to ensure that we end the customs prices and guarantee certainty to the population of Ontario,” added Mr. Ford.

Ontario voters would therefore be called to the polls on February 27, said an anonymous source of Globe and Mail Thursday evening.

Speculations were increasingly heard while the Prime Minister must kick off provincial elections by 2026.

The political party of Doug Ford, the progressive-conservative party of Ontario, currently has 46% of the voting intentions, according to a probe made by the light firm and made public on January 20.

The Liberal Party of Ontario and Ontario NDP are second and third respectively with 22% and 19% of the votes.

Some 47% of the Ontario population would have a good opinion from Mr. Ford while 48% would have an unfavorable opinion, still according to the light firm.
