In a recent analysis, Sergei Choigou, secretary of the Russian Security Council, expressed his concerns about the escalation of international geopolitical tensions. Speaking during an interview with the Russian public news agency Tass, he alerted to the increased risk of violent confrontations between states with nuclear weapons.
Chogou specifically pointed out the Western nations, accusing them of leading what he called an “ideological assault and based on values” towards Russia and Belarus. He indicated that these actions are not limited to the establishment of economic sanctions, but that they also aim to disrupt the internal political systems of these countries.
He added: “In a context of growing world conflicts and intensified geopolitical competition, the risk of violent confrontations between the great powers, including those with nuclear capacities, increases. Choïgou also said that the West seeks to undermine social stability and to impose what he describes as a “foreign neoliberal ideology” around the world.
These words, translated from English by Adama Bamba, were also reported by our colleagues from the Anadolu agency. Chogou insisted that these approaches not only destabilize Russia and Belarus, but also the international scene.
-He continued by stressing the “continuous devaluation of international institutions”, accusing them of becoming political instruments. In addition, according to him, efforts are made to sabotage global initiatives intended to prevent the militarization of space, thus increasing the risks of armed conflicts in this area.
Chogou concluded that these maneuvers represent a deliberate attempt to weaken Russia and Belarus, threatening their sovereignty and their ability to pursue their strategic objectives.
