The Minister of the Economy Éric Lombard on Wednesday ruled out the idea of taxing retirees to finance social protection in the 2025 budget, assuring that there would be “no new taxes on households”.
Asked in Les Échos about this suggestion made Tuesday by Minister of Labor Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet, Éric Lombard replied that “the government's position is unambiguous: no new taxes on households! »
According to him, “the adoption of the 2025 budget must, on the contrary, ensure that 18 million people do not see their income tax increase thanks to the indexation of the scale”.
-The Minister of Labor proposed on Tuesday to make “retired people who can afford it” contribute to the financing of social protection, estimating their number at “40%”, “depending on the level of pension”.
A proposal which caused an outcry within the National Rally and France Insoumise. For his part, Matignon has already stressed that Astrid Panosyan-Bouvet's proposal was “a personal proposal”.
